Join the Music Adventure Family

High school age violinists, violists, cellists are encouraged to apply. Students should be at least 14 years old by August or entering 9th grade in the fall. An accomplished woodwind, harp, classical guitar or bass player may be selected.

Music Adventure accepts 15 - 18 students each year, depending on breakdown of instrumentation and gender. Music Adventure faculty consider playing ability, experience, teacher recommendation and instrumentation in making acceptance decisions, and aim to have a balance of male and female participants. Applicants who have applied previous years but were placed on the wait list or were not accepted will be given priority.

Auditions are scheduled by appointment in Hartford, CT. If distance precludes a live audition, a CD or DVD may be submitted by mail. Students should present two contrasting works or one larger work or movement that shows contrasting styles. The audition program does not need to be more than 10 minutes long. Recordings do not need to be professional quality but should made with the best possible sound. Links can be emailed.

Applications received by February 15 will receive first consideration. After February 15, please contact Music Adventure to find out if place is still available. Please include information about instrument, age and gender in such an inquiry.

Applicants will generally be notified of admissions decisions within two weeks of February 15 or within two weeks of audition/receipt of application materials.

Please mail a completed application, recorded audition or request for live audition, and $50 application fee. Teacher recommendation letter addressing points on Music Adventure's teacher recommendation form can be included with the application, mailed directly or emailed to dahlin@musicadventure.org

Teacher recommendation and application fee are waived for returning students. Returning students can secure a place with a $500 deposit received by February 15th.

Price: $3350 includes tuition, room and board, including breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Saturday dinner out; sightseeing, including museum entrances and guided tours; activities, including Italian language and T'ai Chi classes; and ground transportation in Italy.

Music Adventure arranges a group flight from New York; however, airfare is not included in the price.

Eric Dahlin and Jaroslaw Lis, Music Adventure's directors, are happy to answer questions and discuss the program.
